This tiny village in the lower Alpujarra mountains provides the ideal location for a holiday in a choice of traditional rental holiday property; whether your taste is for walking, mountain biking, horse riding, birdwatching or just relaxing. Its situation, 2 kilometres up a partly surfaced track, ensures peace and tranquillity. The village is about 10 minutes drive from the small coastal town of Castell de Ferro, with its beaches, bars and restaurants for those who want to relax by the sea, but is also in the heart of the mountains for those who enjoy walking and birdwatching.

Castell de Ferro is on the Costa Tropical, an area devoted to horticulture rather than tourism but, with its beautiful rugged coastline and secluded bays and beaches, it is popular as a holiday destination for Spanish families. As the road stops in Barranco Ferrer there is no through traffic, making it a safe and carefree location for family holidays. This combination of rural peace and quiet in the mountains and proximity to the coast makes it a great place for all the family. Barranco Ferrer is an excellent choice for holiday rental accommodation in the Alpujarra.

Barranco Ferrer is less than 2 hours drive from Malaga airport, 1.5 hours from Almeria, 1.5 hours from Granada airport and within reach of many fascinating places to visit, including the historic coastal town of Salobreña (30 minutes); Orgiva and the Alpujarras (1 hour); Granada and the Alhambra (1.5 hours); Pradollano ski resort (2 hours). This resort in the high Sierra Nevada is open for skiing from December until April or May, making it possible to ski in the morning and swim in the Med in the afternoon!

We offer Casa Lois which sleeps 4 and for larger parties Casa Quetta may also be rented. The houses are adjacent holiday rental properties each with 2 double/twin bedrooms. Although prices are stated for weekly rentals on a self-catering basis, part week bookings are also welcome with prices charged at a pro rata daily rate. Rentals may start on any day.

Casa Lois: 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, bathroom with shower, dining room, fully equipped kitchen, lounge with log burning stove and access to a large sun terrace. The pool terrace has a pool of approximately 15 square metres. Rental prices from £190 for the house per week (low season).

Casa Quetta: 1 double bedroom, 1 bunk bedroom, fully equipped dining kitchen, lounge and bathroom with shower. There is an arched shady terrace that opens out onto the swimming pool area. Rental prices from £190 for the house per week (low season).
